Description
Neopomacentrus azysron - The Lyretail damselfish is a beautiful addition to reef tanks. This species is an exceptionally hardy saltwater fish and makes an excellent beginner fish.
They have a black/deep purple body with a bright yellow adorned lyretail. The lyretail can develop long, elegant streamers as the fish matures. The typical adult size is only around 2" in length, so they can be kept in smaller tanks around 30 gallons or more.
They're not as aggressive as most other damselfish species and should not be kept with very aggressive fish. These damsels can be aggressive towards smaller fish but tend to be peaceful towards large species. They do well in small to medium groups and are sure to bring a splash of color to the mid level of your aquarium.
Lyretail Damselfish are reef safe and will not eat ornamental shrimps, corals, clams, or invertebrates.
