Chocolate Chip Starfish - Protoreaster nodosus

The Chocolate Chip Starfish is a hardy and eye-catching sea star known for its tan to orange body covered in distinct dark brown “chips” or nodules. Its bold appearance and active nature make it a fascinating addition to a fish-only or FOWLR aquarium.

Best suited for tanks 75 gallons or larger, this starfish prefers plenty of sandy substrate and stable water conditions. It is not reef-safe, as it may feed on soft corals, sponges, and other invertebrates.

The Chocolate Chip Starfish is an omnivore that feeds on detritus, algae, and meaty foods like clam, shrimp, or mussel. Spot-feeding a few times per week helps maintain good health.
